      The recently ended Auto Expo event witnessed an interesting fleet of concept cars along with a wide range of cars showcased across all segments. At the event, amongst a range of concept cars from global car-makers , Renault managed to grab eyeball towards its stand with its very own KWID concept and ZOE cars. Serge Mouangue, Brand Manager and LCI Manager, said, “Customers in new markets are much younger. Their expectations are different and customers are basically gamers. They tend to take a closer interest in technology and want to enjoy themselves. This concept car meets those needs in a variety of ways, but mainly thanks to the Flying Companion which makes driving both safe and fun. This is the very first time in the long automotive history we can dry on earth with an eye in the sky. It’s an amazing feature.”

      As per sources from the company, “KWID concept highlights both Renault's commitment to new markets, such as India, as well as the company's ability to produce appealing products in the compact car segment. The vehicle's robust, yet fun design, along with its technology-driven features, is targeted at meeting the needs of young customers in these markets.” The KWID is powered by a new generation downsized 1.2 Litre petrol turbocharged engine that has been mated to a dual-clutch transmission that ensures better fuel efficiency figures good driving experience.

      The car's interior is said to be inspired by a bird's nest and is something which has never been seen before. The 2-tone elastomer material looks vibrant and bright. The concept car boasts of interesting features like rear seat air-conditioning control switch at the back of the driver's seat. Sumit Sawhney, Managing Director, Renault India Pvt. Ltd, said, “Renault has seen unparalleled growth in India in just under 3 years and the market is set to continue playing a significant role in the company's global strategy in the years to come. The reveal of the KWID CONCEPT in India - the first such unveil outside Europe, as well as its design keeping in mind the young customers in India illustrate our strong commitment to the country.”

      The Renault ZOE was part of Renault Z.E. (Zero Emission) strategy of capturing market share in the electric vehicles space. Building on its tremendous success with the Duster in the Indian market, Renault had also showcased the ZOE car during the recently held Auto Expo event. The 4.10 metres car is powered by a 60kW (80hp) motor with a torque output of 222Nm is a fairly powered machine. The ZOE was labeled the ‘SPA’ car by Renault officials in Paris. This car is made for city driving, combining stylish designs with a tremendous driving experience. This car is expected to be a huge hit if electric vehicle segment kicks off well in the country. Laurens Van Den Acker, Head of Industrial Design, said, “Renault Design is a highly international team with studios in France, Romania, Brazil, Korea and India. This concept car is a reflection of the distinctly international flavour of our design network.”
