Brazil’s most awaited hatchback of 2016, the Renault Kwid, has been spotted on local roads almost undisguised. Sources confirm that the Kwid is all set to replace the Clio as the entry model of the brand in Brazil.

A quick look will confirm that the Brazil-spec Kwid looks quite familiar to the car that’s sold in India, including the three bolts to hold the wheels in place. However, on closer inspection, you will realise that the bigger mirrors are of a different design and are also seen on the Sandero. A very important differentiator is that the car will not be jacked up as high as the Indian version (180mm) as seen in the side profile.

Renault’s Brazilian Kwid will come with the 1.0 engine three-cylinder motor that’s expected to churn out 77bhp and 10Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox will be mated to the motor. Speculations have it that the 0.8-litre engine could debut later on if the market calls for it. We will report more on this as and when it happens.
