The new gen Dacia Duster was showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Similar to the Dacia, the Renault Duster is modern looking from every angle. There is a new Alaskan-inspired grille flanked by LED strip headlamps. The overall design gives up its old boxy motif and is now curvier similar to the all-new Captur. The windscreen is raked a bit, however, the silhouette with flared wheel arches remains unmistakably that of the current Duster.

The bumpers are cladded with bash plates both fore and aft. The rear tail lights are squared with new LED lighting signature. Renault has introduced a larger 17-inch wheel size with the new Duster as is the trend these days in the compact SUV segment. The dimensions of the new-gen Duster remains more or less the same.

On the inside, the cabin is fresh with new elements like the dashboard layout, infotainment screen, and redesigned rectangular air-vents atop the dash. There are a plethora of storage places all around and the cabin has a better soundproofing than before, says Renault. There are features like vertical-height seat adjustment, automatic climate control, keyless entry, new 2.8-litre under-seat stowage tray, remote engine start and blind-spot warning offered with the new Duster. The boot space is 478litres that can be extended to 1623litres.

Powering the Duster is the same pair of petrol and diesel motors. The petrol engines are – 115bhp 1.6-litre SCe and a 145bhp 2.0-litre unit (also gets 4x4) – available with either a five-speed manual or a CVT. Meanwhile, the diesel is the same 1.5-litre dCI with a power output of either 90bhp or 110bhp. The 110bhp guise gets a 4x4 and an option of a DCT transmission. There is a host of off-road hardware available as well.
