With the Pulse, Renault recently made its foray into the small car segment of the Indian automobile market that is irrefutably the favourite division of the Indian buyers. The compact car was unveiled on the sidelines of the Indian Formula One GP. As a matter of fact, the Pulse is a re-designed version of Nissan Micra that received a lukewarm response in the country. The trend of re-badging has been a part of the global market from quite some time now.

At the time of its launch, Marc Nassif, Managing Director, Renault India said, “After having established the Renault DNA with products like the Fluence and the Koleos we now launch the Pulse which will enable us to reach a much wider segment of customers.”

For the company, it is necessary to carve a distinct identity for Renault Pulse and thus, effective measures have been taken to satisfy the customers. Renault has ensured its buyers that the ownership experience of the Pulse will be different from that of the Nissan Micra.

The French car maker claims that the kind of services it would offer at its showrooms will be irrespective of which car the buyers would wish to procure.  Renault is expected to come up with innovative service procedures for the buyers in order to draw a line between Pulse and Micra.

To race ahead of the Micra in terms of looks also, Renault is mulling upon offering the sportier body-kits. In addition, numerous cosmetic upgrades, which the car maker displayed on the Pulse RenaultSport version during the launch, can be expected. However, it is important to note that these upgradations would be made available only at the dealer level.

Nassif also said, “The Pulse carries forward the Renault DNA of safety, quality and innovation and we are sure the customers will like this premium compact which combines all the luxuries of a bigger sedan with the economy of a small compact. We are not only adding to our product portfolio but we are also growing our sales and service network to address the needs of our customers.”

Thus Renault seems to make every possible effort to pull the masses, and because Pulse is its first small car in the Indian market, experiencing success becomes all the more important.
