Despite witnessing not-so-good times in the August 2012 sales, Renault India has come with a decision to expand its dealership network in the country to 100 from the current 65 before the end of 2012. Stating his confirmation on the aforesaid statement, Len Currian, Renault India Vice President (Sales and Marketing) said on the launch ceremony of Scala sedan in Punjab that the company has been getting a positive response from the Indian buyers. The Indian arm of French car maker has already introduced five models in last 18 months and thus, it is planning to expand the dealership network to 100.

He said, “A3 segment is the most potential market for the cars and we shall be focusing on it aggressively to take the market share.”

Currian affirmed that the sales for the month of August 2012 faced a dip and growth rate in the auto industry also remained on a slow pace, but in an overall approach, the Indian car market showed positive results. He added, “It is a definitely growing market and curve would go upward despite some temporary phases of dipping sales. By next year we want to reach the figure of delivering 80,000 to 1,00,000 cars.”

Following the launch of Scala sedan, and the success of its previous models in the country, the company seems en route to become a big player in the Indian car market with the opening of its new showrooms.
