Car makers in India, in recent times, have been quite active in introducing programs and events that involve customer participation. Renault, the French auto maker, made an official announcement regarding the 'Gang of Dusters' initiative, which was exclusively for owners of the compact Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs). The 'Gang of Dusters' program provided a chance to customers and their families to participate in a driving spree across India with a team from Renault. This ongoing event has attracted a lot of attention from all corners as it was flagged from Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, on 15th of August, when the entire country celebrated the 66th Independence Day.

This drive was just one part of the Gang of Dusters initiative, which has many plans for the future, according to sources. Called the West Coast Expedition, this ongoing drive will see several units of Renault Dusters travelling through areas like Dandelli, Kolad, Goa and Panhala. The West Coast Expedition will end on 19th of August in Mumbai.

Executive Director for Marketing & Sales at Renault India, Sumit Sawhney, spoke about this program and the motive behind it. “After creating a new segment and reshaping the perception of Indian drivers about SUVs, the Renault Duster has been one of the most popular vehicles in the country over the past year and has won over nearly 60,000 owners. The Gang of Dusters is a celebration of a fabulous year and an opportunity for us share with Duster owners a sense of freedom and excitement with an adventurous drive and welcome each and every one of them into the Renault family,” he said.

According to sources, the firm expects participants, who are also owners of the Duster, to interact with each other and exchange their views on the car. Renault has comprehensively designed a program that entails a lot of fun-filled and thrilling activities. Apart from the pleasure of driving through picturesque landscapes in the beautiful weather, participants will have a lot to look forward to. Visiting historic sites, going on a wildlife safari, rock climbing and raft building are some of the activities on the itinerary of the West Coast Expedition in the Gang of Dusters initiative. Owners of the Renault Duster will also have the chance of talking one on one with rally experts, who possess extensive knowledge about cars and related areas. Sources have claimed that the Gang of Dusters initiative is stipulated to continue after this drive with Renault planning to conduct similar events across part of the country.

Industry experts believe that such programs are really helpful in developing a direct relationship between the brand and customers. These kind of events become even more significant for a firm like Renault, which is still finding its feet in market as huge as India. Until the launch of Duster SUV, Renault received quite an unimpressive response from the Indian buyers. However, Duster seems to have turned around fortunes of the French car maker, helping it to have some sort of impact in the country.
