      Renault-Nissan Alliance rolled out the one millionth car from its facility in Oragadam, Chennai. The milestone car was a Nissan Micra, which was pushed off the assembly line at 1215 hours today.

      The facility in Chennai is the largest for the Franco-Japanese alliance in Asia. It has been operational since 2010, catering to both the domestic and international markets. The companies have dispatched over 6,00,000 units from the plant to 106 countries since 2010, as the second largest car exporter in the country. Over the same period, the production at the plant has gone up from 75,000 units per annum to 2,00,000 units per annum.

      Speaking on the occasion, Christian Mardrus, Chairman of Nissan's Africa, Middle East and India region, and former Alliance Executive Vice President,said, "I congratulate our workforce in Chennai for achieving a significant landmark in the ongoing evolution of this important plant.

      "Our Chennai facility has, and will continue, to play a fundamental role in the development of our business in India. Today's milestone reflects the popularity of Nissan and Renault products in India and export markets, as well as the skill and dedication of our staff. It is also a measure of the high level of support we have enjoyed from the Tamil Nadu government."
