Renault-Nissan has started a new nightshift at their plant in Chennai to begin round-the-clock production. The implementation of this third shift is to increase their production capacity and meet the demand of their vehicles.

The Renault Kwid has a huge demand in the Indian market and to cater to the huge demand, the carmaker has taken this huge step. The manufacturer also is preparing for the production of the upcoming Datsun Redi-Go, which will be launched in the coming months. The steady demand of the Micra and Sunny from the overseas market has also kept the production lines at this plant busy. The night shift will start this week on one of the company's two production lines.

On average we have launched two new models each year since the plant opened. This is a testament to the skill and dedicated of our Indian workforce, including our supplier partners, who are not only providing a range of great products for our domestic customers but also showcasing Indian build-quality on the world stage."

The Renault-Nissan's plant at Chennai first started operations in March 2010 and is the biggest alliance manufacturing facilities around the world. It began with Rs 4,500 crores investment that has currently hiked to Rs 6,100 crores. Till date, the plant has produced more than 10 lakh locally produced cars for the Indian market and more than six lakh vehicles for the export market.
