In the automobile sector, Indian used car market is also considered as strong segment as the new car market in the country. Renault, the popular French carmaker is now a well known brand in India, thanks to the fortunes gathered by its Duster compact SUV fleet in the country. Now to further its foothold in the country, Renault is reportedly working on setting-up its used car business in the country. Speaking more on the occasion, Bernard Cambier, Renault Chairman of AMI (Africa, Middle East and India), said at the Paris Motor Show, “India is the biggest challenge for Renault in the next two years...we have high ambitions from the Indian market. It is very important for us.”

Sumit Sawhney, Renault India Country CEO and MD, could not agree lesser and stated that India indeed holds good potential for Renault as most customers also look for exchange platform in turn to opt for a new car or get a good deal for their existing car. Speaking more on it Sawhney said, “When a customer is coming today to buy a Renault car he already owns a car, so he is looking forward to an exchange platform where he can get right value for his existing car. Also if a customer wants to buy a Renault car we can always give him the option to liquidate his existing Renault car to buy a new one. So used car business is important from customer point of view and for dealers it gives them turnover.”

With the launch of upcoming Lodgy MPV, the Renault brand may further get an opportunity to claim a good spot in the MPV segment. The Renault Lodgy MPV can be strong contender against the Datsun Go+ MPV that is also slated to be launched sometime early next year. For now, the Renault brand is aiming at holding five percent share in the Indian market.
