Seeing the growing demand for family MPVs, Renault has entered the segment with its global product - the Lodgy - in India. Claimed to be one of the most spacious MPV in its league, the Lodgy takes on the likes of segment leaders - Honda Mobilio and Toyota Innova. We compare the three MPVs to find out which one secure more point, at least on paper.
Dimensions: The MPV word itself suggests space, and Renault has done well in this department. The Lodgy MPV measures 4,498mm in length, 1,751mm in width and 1,682mm in height, and it comes with a segment leading 2,810mm of wheelbase. On the other hand, the Innova MPV is 4,585mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,760mm tall, and has a large wheelbase of 2,750mm. The Mobilio is the smallest of the three with 4,,386mm length, 1,683mm width and 1,603mm height. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,652mm, which is large enough to offer spacious cabin.
Engine Specifications: While the Innova and Mobilio are available in both petrol and diesel guise, the Lodgy is offered in diesel version only. It is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which is tuned to offer two states of tunes - 85PS/200Nm and 110PS/245Nm. On the other hand, the Mobilio gets power from a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that is good for 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque. The Innova MPV is propelled by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 102PS and 200Nm of torque.
