Renault Lodgy was not exactly a best seller for the carmaker in India. As per fresh updates, the company has been planning on introducing the Easy-R AMT system for its Lodgy MPV. The AMT system will be carried forward from the newly launched Duster model in the country. It is believed that the vehicle will feature six-speed ZF sourced Easy-R AMT.
The Easy-R AMT transmission shall be offered on the 108bhp generating 1.5-litre dCi engine, while the 83bhp producing unit may continue to be offered with five-speed manual transmission option. This means that only the seven-seater trim will be offered in AMT option. It is anticipated that the AMT transmission variant may return a fuel efficiency figure of about 21 km/l.
On the design and style aspect, the new Renault Lodgy is not expected to feature major upgrades and could be restricted to new badging and minor cosmetic tweaks. As of now, automatic option is only available on the Ertiga MPV from Maruti Suzuki and the Lodgy AMT could possibly emerge as a potentially lucrative option for car buyers looking for automatic options in diesel MPVs. On the pricing front it is likely to cost an additional Rs 40,000 - 50,000 over the existing price for the 108bhp generating model.
