      Renault likely to launch fully made-in-India hatchback by next year

      France based leading car maker Renault is eying to launch a fully developed-in-India compact car in the country in coming years. The company is conducting a feasibility study in the India to manufacture this car, in which it will be using the engineering and designing expertise of its India based research and development and design centre.

      The new compact car is expected to be launched in the highly competitive compact hatchback segment where it would be taking on the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo. The car is expected to hit the Indian roads by next year in the price segment of sub Rs 6 lakh. However, the company hasn’t revealed any details of the car, saying that the study of the car had just begun.

      The company has planned to launch as many as five new car models in the Indian market within next two years. In the second phase of its expansion in India, the company would be rolling out a range of locally developed and cars. This phase would be initiated by year 2015.

      Meanwhile, the recently rolled-out premium sedan Renault Fluence is receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers, as per the company.
