Renault Kwid's official bookings to commence from September 14, 2015

Official bookings for the much-awaited small hatchback - the Renault Kwid will be commenced from September 14, 2015. The company has also revealed almost all the details about the Kwid just ahead of its launch. Since, the Renault Kwid will be pitted against the Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, expect it to be priced around Rs. 3 lakh – Rs. 4.5 lakh. The production of the hatchback will take place at Renault’s Chennai plant with 98% of localization levels.

Talking about its engine, the Renault Kwid is powered by a 799cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that is paired to a five-speed manual transmission. This engine is capable to churn out a maximum power of 53bhp and 72Nm of torque. Renault claims that the Kwid returns a class-leading mileage of 25.17km/l. This will also make it most fuel efficient petrol car in the country. With lightweight body-built and all-aluminum compact engine, the Kwid weighs only 660kgs.

Based on Renault’s CMF-A platform, the Kwid features crossover-like stances and a high ground clearance. It measures 3,679mm in length, 1,471mm in width and 1,579mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,422mm, and a class-leading ground clearance of 180mm. Besides this, the hatchback offers a boot space of 300-litres. Features on offer are a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity, power windows, digital instrument cluster, chrome air vents, optional drive airbag, etc.
