      Renault Kwid likely to get two new variants - Racer and Climber

      The newly launched Kwid hatchback from Renault has already received an overwhwlming response with about 50,000 customer bookings in just about a month since launch. As per news doing rounds, Renault may offer the Kwid in two new trims namely – Racer and Climber to appeal more to the younger car buyer lot. It is also anticipated that the new model could well receive a new 1.0-litre engine that could be mated to an automatic transmission.

      The current lot is powered by 799cc, 3-cylinder, DOHC petrol engine that generates a power output of about 54bhp and a maximum torque output of about 72Nm. The fairly powered motor comes mated to five-speed manual transmission and claims a decent fuel efficiency figure of about 25.17km/l. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 3679mm in length, 1579mm in height, 1471mm in width, and gets a wheelbase measuring 2422mm.

      It is believed that the new variants if launched could get new sporty graphics and alloys. It could also get roof rails and other sporty upgrades to offer it as a top end variant. The one currently on sale has been offered at a lucrative price starting at Rs 2.57 lakh (ex showroom Delhi) and details on the new variants may be known at a later date.
