Country Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently urged corporates to be a part of ‘Make in India’ Campaign, which encourages localization of production. Renault India, CEO and MD, Sumit Sawhney is reportedly in favour of this move and stated that this would indeed help in country’s growth. A statement released by Sawhney states that, “The ‘Make in India’ campaign is a great initiative and a welcome move for the Indian manufacturing industry. What stands out clearly is the intent of easing business processes in India, with further reforms and favourable policy intervention, which will attract foreign direct investment.”

25 sectors in India have been identified by the government that can be helpful in aiding country’s growth. Among the list of 25, the Automobile sector has also gained a mention. Speaking more on the occasion, Sawhney added, “I am confident that such pro-business measures will enable the manufacturing sector, led by the auto industry, to bounce back stronger, and deliver on its potential of becoming one of the largest and most efficient in the world. The formation of a stable Government has already led to tremendous optimism of progress, and we are already witnessing an improvement in macroeconomic factors, including the improving GDP, surge of the stock market and measures to control inflation.”
