Renault Duster All-Wheel Drive may further enhance brand's presence on Indian roads

Renault Duster's success story is well known by all. The compact SUV currently with a two wheel drive option is all geared up to be launched with a four wheel drive option soon. The current Renault Duster generation is available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The 1.6 Litre Petrol engine reportedly generates about 104 Hp at 5,850 rpm while producing a maximum torque of about 145 Nm at 3,750 rpm. Whereas, the diesel variant is available with two diesel engine options. One of the diesel version is powered by 1461cc engine that generates about 85PS of power at 3750 rpm with 200 Nm of torque at 1900 rpm, whereas the alternative diesel version generates a little extra power of 110 PS at 3900 rpm with 248 Nm of torque at 2250 rpm with a similar 1461cc engine.

Initially Renault may launch the new Duster 4x4 with a diesel engine, whereas a petrol engine may be launched at a later unconfirmed date. It is believed that Renault may charge about Rs. 1 lakh extra for the 4x4 variant and it is likely to be launched as a top end variant. The car may be produced at the Chennai facility which is also being used for manufacturing cars for the international markets.

It is also anticipated that Renault may roll out two trims in 4WD Duster variant, as the base and a high end version. Base model is expected to come with regular steel wheels; on the other hand high-end version could be bestowed with alloy wheels. A ‘4WD’ badge will be affixed on the boot lid varying it from regular trims. The headlights may be tinted like the ones seen with the Adventure Edition. The 4WD system may be offer in three driving modes namely - 2WD, Auto and Lock. Price is unknown for now but it is likely to be priced around Rs. 13 Lakhs.
