      Renault-Arkana-revealed

Renault has globally unveiled the Arkana coupe-crossover at the 2018 Moscow Motor Show. The vehicle has derived its name from the Latin word arcum meaning secret. The coupe-crossover is believed to be based on Renault’s BO platform and will sit above the Captur at the time of its launch in India.

The newly revealed Renault Arkana has a robust appeal which is expressed through its wide wheel arches, 19-inch wheels and high ground clearance to offer all-terrain drivability. The company claims that the Arkana is a sturdy vehicle which is ready to face harsh driving and tough weather conditions. Moreover, to enhance its sporty quotient, it gets a high waistline and sloping coupe roofline which is emphasized by side chrome detailing and a panoramic glass roof.

Russia will be the first market to get the Renault Arkana in 2019 and will gradually be introduced in other global markets. Although the vehicle will globally retain its unique design elements, the underpinnings will be adapted to the local markets and better suited to meet local customers’ expectations.

Speaking on the occasion, Laurens Van den Acker - SVP, Corporate Design of Groupe Renault, said, “The ARKANA show car is a distinctive coupe-crossover, striking balance between the elegance of a sedan and the powerful stance of an SUV. We have dialled in specific Renault cues, with a strong design, strength and sensuality with a French touch.”

Although the mechanical details have not been officially revealed, the company has stated that it will offer a brand new engine for the Russian market. Moreover, Renault will also offer a four-wheel drive transmission option. In India, we expect the vehicle to compete against the likes of Jeep Compass.
