      Renault aims to grab 2.5 percent market share in India by 2013

      The France based leading car maker Renault is aiming to take its market share in the country to 2.5 percent in next two years. In the longer run, the company aims to account for five percent share of the Indian car market.

      In a recent statement given in Kolkata while launching the Fluence sedan in the city, Renault India vice-president (sales and marketing) Len Curran said, "By 2013, we are eyeing a market share of 2.5 per cent, and five per cent in the long term." He added that the company would roll-out as many as five new car models in the Indian market in next two years. These upcoming models include a luxury SUV and a compact hatchback.

      At present, Renault has the second largest market share in Europe after Volkswagen. In the global market, the company has third largest market share following Toyota and GM at first and second place respectively.

      Meanwhile, the company is gearing-up to launch its luxury SUV Koleos in the Indian market. The Koleos model will be launched in the price segment of sub Rs 20 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
