Racing is not about F1 tournaments only as there is equal competition and excitement in the field of Remote Controlled or Radio Controlled Car racing. In these tournaments, self-powered cars or truck models compete, which are controlled from a distance by their owners using transmitters race against each other. Usually referred to as R/C Car Tournaments, implying Radio Controlled as well as Remote Controlled at the same time, these events have the same high-voltage action and the rush of adrenaline as their full fledged counterparts. The cars used in this competition are generally powered by small and powerful electric motors, which on receiving signal from the transmitter, get activated and steer the car.

The types of models used in these tournaments are mainly classified into two types, off-road and on-road vehicles. On-road models are so designed to be operated generally on smooth surfaces like paved roads. These types of cars perform well in those tournaments, where racing takes place in terms of speed. The off-road versions are mainly designed for rugged and undulating tracks and have an enhanced ground clearance. The off-road models are mainly designed for those tournaments, which essentially feature getting passed obstacles.

The global governing body for professional radio controlled racing is International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR). Established in 1979 by RC model entrepreneur and professional racer Ted Longshaw, this organisation united the different independent governing bodies, which conducted RC racing at that time. Apart from giving a global platform for these racing events, IFMAR also promotes sportsmanship and international unity.

The tracks for organising these competitions are differently designed as suitable for the varying type of races. Some races are all about speed, wherein the car models compete against each other just to reach their destinations first. Here, the tracks are so designed that the controllers have to efficiently manoeuvre their cars

In India, the scope of such remote controlled races is very bleak as of now. However, the trend of organising such races is fast catching up among the Indian people as they are more enthusiastic nowadays. A company named as CarZ has felt the urge for creating awareness about the sport. Commenting on the same, Founder and Managing Director of CarZ, Venu Donepudi recently told, "CarZ is proud to bring to the spotlight the exciting but hitherto non-mainstream sport of R/C racing. After experiencing the F1 event recently held at the Buddh International Circuit, we wanted to give the people a similar rush through this sport, which is already a rage abroad and is just beginning to gain traction in the country. There is also the advantage of it being a completely safe sport that puts neither the drivers nor viewers at risk of accidents. As of now there are hardly any tracks in India. Conducting this event in Hyderabad is a good sign for the sport."

Reportedly, CarZ company has built a track for the racing event in which five different soils types were used to make an international standard one. The track has got sharp angular turns and obstacles, which makes the race challenging and interesting to watch.
