Registering a new car or a bike can be a messy affair as well as time-consuming. There are problems at the end of the dealer or sometimes you might even be charged more than is required. These factors sometimes get unnoticed despite the best efforts of customers. However, things might soon change in the next few years riding on an initiative, which is at the moment in process by the Department of Transport of Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is called the dealer point registration system, which not only allows you to get your vehicles registered at ease, but also at the best rates without any heckles.

Online Dealer Point Registration basically deals with the decentralising of the digitalisation of registration data. It also essentially does away with the handling of cash at the RTO cash counters, which has contributed towards making the entire process less hassle-free. According to the CMV Rule-42, it is said that a Trade Certificate Holder of any sort cannot transfer a vehicle or an automobile to a buyer or a customer, without either a temporary or a permanent registration.

The current rules are stringent that state that the customer has to pay a late fee in case the vehicle is not registered within seven days of the purchase. This fee can be as much as five per cent of the price of the automobile. On most of the occasions, the dealers are late to transfer the fees to the treasury, even though getting it from the buyers well within time. As a result, the late fees have to be paid by the buyers on most such circumstances.

The buyer has to pay an additional 300 INR, which is separate from the ex-showroom and the VAT charges. On most occasions, dealers inflate the amount on account of unclear knowledge of customers, which is fundamentally incorrect. The new system will cut down on the malpractices of the dealers by a significant margin. Though, it has not been made mandatory for dealers to sign in to this system, it might still lead to somewhat a better condition from the viewpoint of buyers. It is really laudable what the transport authority of Uttar Pradesh has done to eliminate the chances of corruption. This initiative, if nationally accepted and made mandatory, might as well reduce the loopholes, which were prevalent in the older process of vehicle registration, thus making it better for buyers.
