Tata Motors made a strong comeback in the Indian market with the Tiago hatchback. This time around, the automaker will further strengthen its foothold in the Indian market with the launch of Tigor style-back sub-4 metre sedan on March 29. The vehicle was last seen in production form at the recently held 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Tata dealers started accepting bookings for the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 10,000.

Tata Tigor is available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. The diesel on the other hand gets a Revotorq 1.05-litre engine that generates 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. To enhance the driving experience, the vehicle is offered in two drive modes – Eco and City. Switch to the Eco mode and you get a good fuel efficiency figure, while the City mode, as the name suggests it will offer a fine balance between performance and fuel economy.

Cars from Tata Motors have always been generous with space. Speaking of dimensions, Tata Tigor measures 3992mm in length, 1677mm in width and 1537mm in height and has a ground clearance of 170mm. The vehicle gets a wheelbase measuring 2450mm, which will mean that occupants will get ample amount of interior space. The style-back gets a fuel tank of 35-litre and offers ample boot space to accommodate all the luggage that you wish to tag along.

Based on the Tata’s IMPACT design philosophy the Tigor surely commands attention. The front sports gets smoked projector headlamps and Tata’s signature grille. The vehicle also gets dual-tone bumpers and dual LED tail lamps. As for the interior, Tigor gets dual-tone upholstery, customizable air vents and luxurious patterned seats with bolsters. The vehicle will also get Harman infotainment system that takes care of entertainment needs.

Tata Tigor will emerge as a strong competitor against the likes of Xcent and Elite i20 from Hyundai as well as Dzire and Swift from Maruti Suzuki. Though the pricing aspect is not known for now, we believe that the upcoming Tigor will be priced lower than the Zest sedan, which means that it will soon emerge as a popular seller like its smaller sibling, the Tiago. Good looks and impressive features will undoubtedly claim a considerable share in its segment in the country.
