Maruti Suzuki wants to leave no stones unturned in ensuring that its upcoming compact crossover, Ignis emerges as a successful product. The official Nexa page has been updated with a listing for the Ignis and when clicked, plays a teaser video. The page also has a registration form for potential customers who wish to be updated on Maruti’s upcoming product. As the company gears up to launch its much awaited compact crossover, we bring you factors that might ensure its success.

The upcoming vehicle is expected to be positioned below the Swift hatchback, hence you can expect it to be priced between the Celerio and Swift. As the upcoming vehicle will be locally produced we anticipate it to be priced between Rs 4.5 - Rs 6.5 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Moreover, backed by automaker’s long standing history as the largest carmaker in the country, largest service coverage network and lowest cost of ownership factors makes it the obvious choice in comparison to its competitors.

Reasons why Maruti Suzuki Ignis will emerge as a popular pick

Showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo event which was held earlier this year, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is indeed a good looking car. The bold muscular front features strong lines on the front grille which goes on to connect the LED headlamps. From the first-generation Cervo, the Ignis borrows slit-like ‘C’ pillar design cues, while the blacked out ‘A’ and ‘B’ pillar design resemble the one on Swift. Body coloured mirrors, blackened alloys and visually appealing design is sure to find takers. Competing against the KUV100 from Mahindra, the Ignis appears to be better footed than the former.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be available in petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre K-Series engine will power the petrol version, whereas the diesel version gets a 1.3-litre engine. Along with manual transmission, the upcoming compact crossover will be available in CVT option as well. To be sold via Nexa outlet, Maruti Suzuki’s premium showroom, the Ignis will get dual front airbags and ABS as standard during launch itself.

As for interior, the Ignis is expected to be offered in dual colour dashboard and door panels. The vehicle will get 15-inch three spoke alloy wheels, front electric power windows and DAB radio with Bluetooth. As for higher variants, you can expect rear view camera, navigation support, keyless entry and individually sliding rear seats. The vehicle will offer good amount of space for occupants and decent boot space.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis has everything in its favour right from strong brand name, decent features, lucrative price and stylish design. However, though we expect it to be a popular pick, it purely depends on how potential customers perceive this new offering from Maruti Suzuki.
