Sources reveal that Range Rover’s Sport Coupe could be the brand’s first attempt at an all-electric vehicle.

Range Rover Sport Coupe could be the carmakers first EV

It was shot testing on the Nurburgring race track earlier this year, and is anticipated to be introduced in the last quarter of 2017 or in the first half of 2018.

Reports claim that the Range Rover Sport Coupe could carry the same battery-electric powerplant that is expected on Jaguar’s upcoming ‘I-Pace‘, an electrified version of the F-Pace that’s due next year. Correspondingly, it is also likely that the sporty coupe will share the F-Pace’s all-aluminium architecture, and the suspension set-up.

Armed with the Range Rover Sport Coupe EV, the brand will also be able to conform to California’s regulation for car makers to have a 15 per cent mix of battery-electric vehicles in their fleet which will be applicable between the years 2018 and 2025. To strengthen its hold worldwide, Land Rover may also introduce hybrid variations of this SUV for markets like China, Europe, and the USA.

We shall share more information on the Range Rover Sport Coupe in the months to come, so stay tuned.
