Vijayendra Jadhavrao, a young lad from Pune, won the coveted prize at the Audi-India Future of Change Automobile Design Contest. A total of 900 participants took part in the event organised by Audi India, which was held in Delhi recently. The national-level automobile design competition was attended by a mix of students and professionals of business and design schools in India.

The seven best entries were selected from 900 registrations after stringent tests and several rounds of judging. Eight students and two professionals competed in the business strategy contest category. Jadhavrao said that it was dream come true as he has always wanted to design an automobile for India in the future. At the contest he submitted the design for a concept car for Indian metropolitans, which won him the award.

He said, “As an automobile designer, the contest has helped me carve out some of my best designs. It has always been my ambition to design an automobile for India and catering to the needs of the masses through design is a wonderful opportunity any designer could get.”

According to a close relative, “He has been interested in automobile design since his college days. His passion and interest in the subject is what won him the contest. Along with his hard work, his professors at NID also helped him a lot.”

Jadhavrao has done his schooling from Loyola High School in Pune and completed his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology. He has completed a six month advanced training in automobile design from Germany recently. Currently, he is studying at the National Institute of Design.
