      PSA Peugeot Citroen to lay foundation stone at Sanand plant today

      PSA Peugeot Citroen, the France based leading car maker, is all set to lay the foundation stone of its manufacturing plant in Sanand (Gujarat) today. The company will be neighboring Indian auto giant Tata Motor’s Nano manufacturing plant in Sanand. The company had announced to set-up a plant in the state of Gujarat about two months back. PSA Peugeot will be investing Rs 4,000 crore at this plant, from where it aims to roll-out 1.65 lakh cars per annum. The plant will be spread over an area of 600 acres out of which 100 acres will be utilized by company’s vendors.

      The foundation stone laying ceremony will be graced by the presence of Vincent Rambaud who is director general of Peugeot, Jean-Raphael Peytregnet, Consul General of France in Mumbai, and Gregoire Olivier who is member of managing board and CEO of India operations. Moreover, the supplier and vendors to the firm will also be present there.

      The company has already started hiring for this new plant in Indian along with giving them training at its base facility at France. The first Peugeot car will mark its debut in the Indian market by year 2014. Peugeot 508 will be the first India portfolio model of the firm, which will be followed by other B, C and D class cars of the firm later on. The company also looks forward to launch hybrid (diesel and electric) vehicles in India after a few years.
