The MPV segment in India is ruled by the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova. The new generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been spotted testing several times in India and is due for a launch soon. Ahead of its India debut, the new Ertiga will be showcased in production form at the Indonesia International Motor Show on 19 April 2018.

Indonesia being an MPV-dominated market, the Ertiga has always been a popular choice. The new model will further boost up sales for the vehicle in the country. Based on the new Heartect platform, the new Ertiga will see a major overhaul in terms of space, design and practicality. As seen in spied images, the new Ertiga gets a longer rear overhang and wrap-around tail-lamps which draw inspiration from the Ciaz sedan. Moreover, it also appears to feature a steeper rake on the rear windscreen with a wiper. The front section is likely to sport new projector headlamps and a larger grille for freshness.

As for the interior, the new Ertiga will be more spacious and have an upmarket appeal with a new higher quality fabric upholstery. This time around, the company is also likely to offer a new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Moreover, we also expect to see a multi-function steering wheel, auto climate control and additional storage compartments. The vehicle will continue to be offered in a seven-seat layout.

Mechanically, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will continue to be powered by existing petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.4-litre petrol generates 91bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. The diesel version on the other hand is powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel motor that generates 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. It is to be seen if the company will also introduce the much talked about 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Reports claim that dealerships in Indonesia have already started accepting bookings for the vehicle for 5 million Indonesian Rupiah (approx. ₹ 23,000).
