In the wake of the highly auspicious festive month, auto makers have been providing the Indian market with a number of profitable deals; however, some of them stand apart from the crowd. There are companies who have sincerely mulled upon pulling the masses at any cost whatsoever.  However, it is important to note that absolutely no car maker has cashed on the opportunity by introducing the diesel version of its vehicles.

Car companies have offered exorbitant discounts on their popular hatchbacks for this October, but, what has come as a surprise is the absence of any move by leading car makers, when it comes to axing of prices. For instance, there are no discounts on the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Swift, the ace car stands firm at the 2nd spot in terms of sales. Hyundai i20 too offers an unattractive Rs. 13,500 worth discount on petrol variant. Ford Figo, another sensation in the hatchback segment, is only offering the first year insurance free.

However, if one shifts focus from the top-selling vehicles in the segment, there are few brands that do not shy away from offering real discounts.

One such hatchback is Nissan Micra XE that has been made available at a price of Rs. 3.6 lacs, after an impressive discount of Rs. 50,000.

Owing to the noticeable discount, the price of base Micra XE has tumbled down to a comparatively low price, from the Rs. 4.1 lacs tag. The variant carries a power steering and one airbag, however, power windows or music system have not become a part of the hatchback. As a matter of fact, it is, at the outset, the cheapest car to offer an airbag.

As a result of the appreciable low in the price, Micra is available at a cheaper value than Ford Figo 1.2 Duratec LXI, though not much, which is priced at Rs. 3.69 lacs. But, another fact that earns laurels for Micra is that Ford does not offer airbag.

The discount quotient becomes even more relevant when one considers the fact that at Rs. 3.6 lacs, Micra XE is cheaper than Maruti WagonR Lxi too, which costs around Rs. 3.65 lacs. And though WagonR carries 2 power windows as an advantage, it does not have airbags either.

Skoda Fabia 1.6 Mpi Elegance can also be considered as a good buy, as it has been priced at Rs. 5.5 lacs, going through a reduction of Rs. 61,700.

Even if Micra’s price is irrefutably quite aggressive, it does not succeed in satiating the basic needs of a spacious and mettlesome hatchback. However, both the important aspects are present in Skoda Fabia 1.6 Mpi Elegance, which boasts of an engine that churns out 105 bhp power. Moreover, a heavy discount of Rs. 61,700 that brings down the price from Rs. 6.11 lacs to very reasonable Rs. 5.5 lacs.

The Fabia 1.2 Mpi Elegance variant has been priced at Rs. 5.79 lacs from the earlier tag of Rs. 5.25 lacs, which is an effective deal as the car is equipped to the brink with safety features like 2 airbags, ABS and EBD.

Chevrolet U-VA LT undoubtedly joins the league of hottest hatchback deals with a highly competitive price tag of 4.29 lacs, after sifting out a hefty amount of Rs. 55,000.

The higher-end LT variants that assemble an airbag to it and four power windows, gets a further aggressive discount package of Rs. 55,000, falling from Rs. 4.84 lacs to Rs. 4.29 lacs.
