German carmaker Audi had been planning on launching its entry level sedan A3 in India as a completely knocked down unit. This will help the car maker to keep the price affordable and well within reach. Assembling is anticipated to be done at the company’s manufacturing unit in India. The company is expected to launch new A3 sedan in India during the upcoming festive season.German car-maker Volkswagen has been in the news in recent time hinting on a possible launch of Jetta sedan sometime early next year. The first glimpse of the sedan was seen at the recently ended New York International Motor Show.
The face-lifted version of upcoming Volkswagen Jetta is expected to be powered by a 2.0 liter TDI diesel engine that is capable of generating an additional power of about 10 Bhp. On the exterior front, the grille appears to meet seamlessly with the head lamps, rendering a more mature look to the sedan. A bumper has been restyled, head lamps feature chrome inserts, Moreover, LED accents may also find its place on the new Jetta. Rear will don a new look, courtesy leaner stance and redesigned bumper. Head lamps will be placed a tad higher. Inside the cabin a number of changes will be visible, including a larger screen, new steering and cylindrical housings for two preeminent dials. Besides these, several other minor upgrades are also expected to be given. Company has not yet disclosed the expected pricing of this sedan and it shall only be known post its launch next year.
Test mules of the sedan have also been spotted at various occasions in different cities in India. Audi A3 will weigh around 1250 kgs and will come with a capacious boot space of 425 litres. Audi will proffer A3 available in petrol version, a diesel variant could also be offered. The petrol version will come in two engine options, a 1.4 litre TFSI gasoline engine and a 1.8 litre TFSI engine. The 1.4 litre TSFI motor is capable of engendering a top power of 138 Bhp and the 1.8 litre TSFI motor generates a peak power output of 177 Bhp. If Audi rolls out a diesel variant, it could come with a 2.0 litre TDi powertrain pumping out pinnacle power of 150 Hp and top torque of 320 Nm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels through a six speed manual transmission, a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox will also be offered. Based on assumptions, the car may be priced about Rs. 25 Lakhs.
