Reports claim that Porsche’s refreshed 911 GT2 will make it to the international arena in the last quarter of 2017.

Porsche to reveal the upgraded 911 GT2 in 2017

The irony is that when the 911 GT2 was snapped in mid-2016 at the Nurburgring, nobody knew when the car would make it to the international arena. Also, it was unclear as to which powerplant it would get. That’s about to just change though, as sources report that the current powertrain available in the Turbo model will be borrowed for the 911 GT2.

It is suggested that this flat six-cylinder 3.8-litre biturbo will be enhanced to increase the power delivery from the current 580bhp to close to 650bhp. While this motor will send power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, it is highly unlikely that a manual gearbox version will make it to this application.

Porsche revealed that their engineers were unable bump up the power to 700bhp as it required them to then rely on water injection technology. The test car in the pictures highlight the large wing, lots of body kit, and large intakes in the front and sides. We shall give you more information in the months to come so stay tuned to CarTrade.
