Reports suggest that the 4.0-litre flat six-cylinder engine which powers Porsche’s GT3 RS and 911 R, will find their way to the GT3 RS and 911 R.
Expect this motor to be retuned before it powers the 911 GT3. Sources add that the retuned engine will produce more than the 475bhp which the current 3.8-litre motor makes, and could easily go above 500bhp. Meanwhile, the Cayman GT4 RS is slated to get a detuned version of this upgraded 911 GT3 motor.
Purists will also be happy to know that sources suggest Porsche’s refreshed 911 GT3 may also get a six-speed manual transmission. This confirms the earlier spy shots that revealed a Porsche car hiding the gearshift on the internet. However, expect the car maker to also have a dual-clutch transmission version in the line-up, as an option.
