Just days after the first spy shots of the upcoming 911 coupe were reported by us, Porsche’s next-gen 911 Cabriolet has been caught testing in the snowy conditions of northern Europe.
As always, Porsche is expected to retain the same design on both the coupe and cabriolet’s front fascia. This means that both iterations will continue to highlight their restyled LED head lights, big air intakes, and the characteristic 911 body styling. Nevertheless, it is in profile that the new 911 Cabriolet reveals its true differences with the coupe model. There’s a smaller quarter glass along with redesigned rear fenders to accommodate the folding feature of the roof.
At the rear, the new 911 exhibits a contemporary looking set of tail lamps that was first seen on the Mission-E test vehicle. Furthermore, the overall design of the rear portion of the new 911 Cabriolet needs some redesigning as it looks a bit quirky. There’s no confirmation at the moment regarding the powertrains, but Porsche has earlier stated that the new 911 could get a hybrid variant in the line-up.
As the current 911 model is due to get upgrades on the GT2 and GT3 in 2017, we can safely expect Porsche to unveil the next generation 911 in the last quarter of 2018.
