Porsche tests 718 Boxster GTS on the Nurburgring

It looks like Porsche didn’t rest on its laurels after they debuted the facelifted 718 Boxster in both the base and ‘S’ versions at Geneva earlier this year, and this sighting proves that the GTS is under development. Expect the new iteration to boast of sportier body panels, new alloys, a stiffer suspension, and a new exhaust.

Though there’s no confirmation yet, sources report that this performance oriented 718 Boxster GTS variant could make its international debut at some major auto show sometime in 2017. As the 718 Boxster S already makes 350bhp and 420Nm of torque, reports state that the GTS could be tuned to make 375bhp and 447Nm of torque. Enough for it to be quicker to 100kmph than the ‘S’ which clocks the 0-100kmph sprint in 4.2sec, and register a higher top speed in the process.

Meanwhile, Porsche is looking to boost its sales by offering the 250bhp versions of the Boxster and Cayman in a bid to make them more affordable in China. Stay tuned for more information on Porsche’s plans in the months to come.
