      Porsche's Mission E concept will launch in five years

      Porsche has confirmed that they will start production of the Mission E concept by 2020. This will be the brand's first electric vehicle (EV) and will rival the Tesla Model S in the most sophisticated and technologically advanced car segment around the world.

      The Mission E concept premiered at the Frankfurt Motor show in September last year. The production version of this EV is expected to have a power output of 592bhp enabling the car do the 0-100kmph sprint in under 3.5 seconds. The car will be equipped with a lithium-ion integrated battery that will get charged to its 80 per cent capacity in just 15 minutes. There is also an option of wireless charging and a full charge will enable an impressive range of over 500 km for the performance-oriented model.

      Porsche plans to invest one billion euros in this project, out of which 700 million euros will be used by their Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen facility alone. The carmaker will also come up with a new paint shop and a new assembly plant in the coming years. The engine plant, responsible for the production of electric motors as well, will also enlarge with the expansion of the entire facility. The manufacturer will also create 1,000 new jobs with the huge investment.
