Porsche has submitted a proposal to the American authorities to get the Cayenne diesels to comply with the latest norms. The Cayennes with the diesel V6 will be made compliant by changing the catalytic converters and ECU software for the 2013 and 2014 models and software upgrades for the 2015 and 2016 models.
The Volkswagen group has been facing losses after the Dieselgate scam and the member brands are trying hard to get back to selling cars at the earliest. Porsche, the luxury and sportscar manufacturer, sells the diesel engine only with the Cayenne SUV in the United States of America. It has two engine options – a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 oil burner that develops 250bhp of power and the 4.1-litre V8 developing more than 350bhp of power.
At the Detroit Auto Show, Porsche said the discussions with the American officials have been positive and constructive. Porsche says, they have done everything in their capacity to get the diesel V6 to meet the norms and are awaiting a response from the authorities.
