Reports claim that Porsche is all set to debut a more performance oriented Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.

      Porsche plans for a Panamera 4 E-Hybrid with 500bhp

Sources suggest that the brand could showcase this iteration at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next month. Porsche’s current Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is powered by a 464bhp powertrain that comprises of the 2.9-litre V6 biturbo motor that makes 330bhp and a 134bhp electric motor. However, Porsche could very well use the Panamera 4S’ motor in this sporty E-Hybrid variant.

The Panamera 4S uses the 2.9-litre motor which makes a much higher 440bhp. If this engine is mated to the same 134bhp electric motor, we could ideally be looking at a total of 574bhp. Again, Stefan Utsch, sales and marketing director for the Panamera, claimed that it’s unlikely that both the ICE and the electric motor can make peak power at similar times. This means that the real-life power figures may differ and be slightly lower than 574bhp. On the other hand, it will still be a significant bump-up over the regular E-Hybrid’s 464bhp.

Would this power increase warrant a ‘4S E-Hybrid badge’ to the new Panamera variant? We should find out when the Geneva Motor Show unfolds in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
