Porsche told the press at the 2016 Paris Motor Show that a two-door Porsche Panamera coupe had the essence to become a reality, and would lock horns with the Bentley Continental.
Michael Steiner, Porsche member for research and development, said that the idea behind a two-door Panamera coupe was a good one. However, he affirmed that a better idea with stronger business prospects could precede this one, but also added that Porsche had enough expertise to make this idea a reality thanks to their MSB platform which has the architecture to integrate hybrid technology with diverse body styles.
Steiner proudly admitted that the brand did well to cater to the market at the right time by offering vehicles like the Cayenne, Panamera, Macan, and the Mission E project (EV).Nevertheless, Steiner confessed that the future business model would involve electrification, and going by the industry trend, it would be obvious that funding for the related research and development may be given priority over other ideas.
However, only time will tell and we shall reveal more on Porsche’s plans in the coming months.
