Porsche, the Volkswagen owned division, revealed its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Macan at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Reportedly, the model has been launched in the international markets; however the deliveries are anticipated to start from next fiscal. The Indian launch of Porsche Macan is also expected to take place soon, but nothing is confirmed as of now. Industry experts are of a view that the recently introduced model from German auto maker will deliver a stiff competition to Range Rover Evoque. Interestingly, Macan means tiger in Indonesian language.

In terms of designing, the recently introduced Macan features sportier look than its elder sibling Cayenne. Also, other key highlights of the new model are its sloping rear windows and tail lights. At the launch ceremony, all the models of Macan were equipped with PDK double-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive option, as a part of the standard accessory. Coming to its technical configuration, Porsche has offered it in two engine options, namely 3.0-litre V6 petrol and 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. The former can churn out a maximum power of 335 bhp, which assists it in smoothly accelerating from 0-100 kmph within just 5.4 seconds. On the other hand, the 3.6-litre mill belts out 394 bhp of peak power while accelerating from initial to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds

Macan happens to be the second utility vehicle for Porsche, which has been developed on the platform of Audi Q5. Reportedly, the company will be rolling out the first lot of Macan from its Leipzig factory, which is currently engaged in the production of Panamera and Cayenne. Industry experts believe that Macan features typical Porsche design and exudes an awful presence of imagination. Interestingly, Macan can be termed as a sport's car, wrapped in the clothes of an SUV. Potential buyers can also order this car with a set of 21-inch wheels, as the regular model is offered with 19-inch wheels.
