Thrilling performance car enthusiasts in the country, Porsche has launched the 911 GT3 I India at Rs 2.31 crores (ex-showroom, all-India). Interestingly, this time around, the 991.2 GT3 gets a manual transmission for the first time apart from a host of dynamic updates over the 991 GT3.

Powering the GT3 is a high-revving 4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine. This is an all-new engine which replaces the 3.8-litre unit in the older car. The firepower of 500bhp and a max torque of 540Nm is channelled to the rear wheels via a seven-speed double-clutch transmission (PDK). However, purists can enjoy the control of this GT sports car by opting for a six-speed sports manual gearbox.

The manual GT3 hits a ton from a standstill in 3.9 seconds, while the PDK variant accomplishes the same in a mere 3.4 seconds. The top speed of the manual is 320kmph while the PDK is a tad slower at 318kmph. The GT3 sits on a 245/35 ZR 20 tyres at the front and 305/30 ZR 20 tyres at the rear. The wheels are centre-locking in a proper motorsport fashion. It also boasts of an integrated carbon fibre rear wing which is unique for the GT3 in the 911 family.

With the update, the GT3 now gets four-point LED headlamps and tail lights. There are additional active aero vents beneath the rear-windscreen and there is a generous use of carbon fibre all around the two-seater sports car.

On the inside, Porsche has provided the GT3 with more creature comforts compared to other hardcore 911s (who demands more money for fewer features). So you get leather and Alcantara upholstery, climate control, infotainment screen (optional add-on), and bucket/racing seats. Porsche also provides a plethora of customization options for the prospective customers. This also includes a package where you can collect your very own 911 GT3 at their factory in Leipzig or Zuffenhausen with a plant tour and expert training.

In India, the 911 GT3 comes as a precision track tool rivalled by very few cars. The Beast of Green Hell, the Mercedes-AMG GT R is the closest rival to it and you can read how it fares against the Porsche over here. Apart from that, there are the Nissan GTR, Audi R8 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage that the 911 GT3 threatens as an ultimate GT sports car.
