With the opening of the new Porsche showroom at Ahmedabad, Precision Cars India Private Limited is certainly aiming high. Porsche Centre Ahmedabad is the sixth exclusive company showroom in India and the first in Gujarat. According to company officials, the official supplier of Porsche cars in India, Precision Motors, is aiming to sell more than a hundred cars by the end of the year 2012 in the state of Gujarat itself. According to the company, it hopes to sell at least 300 models nationwide by the end of December, 2011.

According to Ashish Chordia, Chief Executive of Precision Cars, "Ahmedabad and Surat are very strong markets in Gujarat. In fact, the whole of Gujarat offers a good opportunity for the luxury segment in automobiles. Plus, in India, the average life span of a luxury car for an Indian customer is just two years. While we have received 20 orders so far in Ahmedabad, by December 2012 we expect to do sales in triple digits from Gujarat."

This centre is spread over a sprawling area of 34,200 sq. ft., with 4,200 sq. ft. of exclusive showroom space while the rest of the space is dedicated towards servicing of vehicles. The company has said that the showroom will be attended by five customer service executives at all times. The whole range of cars released by Porsche in India will be available at this new centre, including Cayenne, its most popular product.

The new showroom will further help the company consolidate its position in the increasingly competitive luxury car market. With centres in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and, now, Ahmedabad, the company will be able to ward off competition from other luxury car manufacturers, like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. This move by Porsche will certainly help the auto manufacturer in increasing overall national sales in coming times, which were recorded at 134 units in 2010.
