"After the launch of the electric car in the European market, it will be marketed in the US. Then we will evaluate the demand for the car from other markets too, including India, and will launch accordingly," Pininfarina SpA Chairman and Managing Director Andrea Pininfarina told reporters.

The car shall be launched in India and other countries after it achieves a sales target of 15000 units in European and US markets. The company plans to achieve its target by 2014, however if the target is achieved before that it shall assess its potential in other countries including India.

The new electric car from Pinanfarina shall be fully battery operated that would run250 km in one charge. The model shall be showcased at the Paris Auto Show in September this year. Currently, Pinanfarina has signed a contract with Tata Motors to set up an engineering plant in India that would be operational by the year 2009.
