      Piaggio Vespa LX 125 launched in India at Rs 66,661

      The Italia auto maker Piaggio on Thursday launched new generation version of the Iconic scooter Vespa in the Indian market. The new Vespa LX 125 was launched in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 66,661 (ex-showroom Maharashtra), much expensive as compared to the other vehicles of this segment in India including Mahindra Duro, Honda Activa and Suzuki Access.

      Speaking on the launching ceremony of the new Vespa in India, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited’s Chief Managing Director, Mr. Ravi Chopra said, "We could not have launched Vespa at better time than this. The scooter market is fastest growing segment in the country and the Indian consumers has evolved today aspiring to own more lifestyle products and Vespa fits in perfectly."

      Vespa is currently the best selling scooter in Europe and the company is expecting that it will achieve a runaway success in the Indian market, evening leaving behind its global sales figures across a number of other markets over a period of next three years. The expected annual sales figure for this vehicle by the company is 3,00,000 units by year 2015. In the year 2011, Piaggio sold over 1.5 lakh units of this scooter in the global market.
