      Piaggio Fly 125 Scooter arrives in India for R&D purpose

      With the growing demand for scooters, two-wheeler manufacturers are now aiming to launch a series of new scooters in the market. Piaggio, the Italian two-wheeler maker, re-entered into the Indian market with its premium offering- the Vespa. Now, the company is aiming to enter into the budget segment of two-wheelers. The company has imported the Fly 125 automatic scooters into India for R&D (Research & Development), testing and Evaluation purpose. However, the Fly 125 Scooter looks premium and is loaded with premium features.

      Talking about features, the Piaggio Fly 125 is loaded with 12-inch alloy wheels, an analogue instrument cluster with a digital watch, an engine kill switch, front disc brakes, etc. It is powered by a 125cc four stroke motor that is capable of producing a top power output of 12bhp and a peak torque of 10.7Nm. The Scooter is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 60,000.

      When launched in the market, the Piaggio Fly 125 would compete against the likes of Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125. Other than this scooter, the Italian maker also imported the three-wheeler Piaggio MP3 in India for Research & Development Purpose. At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, Piaggio showcased the 946 premium offering. However, this vehicle will not make its way to Indian market this year. It is expected to be launched by 2016.
