Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL), the country’s leading small commercial vehicle manufacturer has marked its entry in mid-body segment of three wheelers with the launch of the new Ape City+. The three-wheeler from Piaggio is available at starting price of Rs 1.72 lakhs and can be had in four fuel options – petrol, diesel, LPG and CNG. The Ape City+ claims to get the country’s first 230cc engine with three valve technology. Moreover, the Ape City+ platform has been jointly developed from teams in Italy and India.
Mechanically, the Piaggio Ape City+ is powered by a 230cc petrol engine in both CNG and LPG guise. In CNG mode it produces 10.14Hp at 4800rpm and 17.51Nm of torque at 3000rpm, while the LPG version produces 11.31Hp at 4900rpm and 20.37Nm of torque at 3000rpm. The CNG version claims to return a fuel efficiency of 40km per kg, while the LPG version claims to return 22kmpl. The diesel version, on the other hand, gets a 436cc, single cylinder engine that produces 8.05hp at 3600rpm and 21Nm of torque between 2400-2200rpm. The diesel version returns a fuel efficiency of 40kmpl. Both the petrol and diesel engine options come mated to four-speed and one reverse manual transmission. The company claims that the newly launched Ape City+ returns best-in-class torque figures and offers better ground clearance as compared to its competitors.
The Piaggio Ape City+ is available in three colour options – green, black and yellow. The Ape City+ is available with one-year free maintenance that includes five free services. The petrol with CNG and LPG options comes with 36 months warranty, while the diesel version is available with the impressive 42 months warranty.
