Mitsubishi has confirmed that the new Pajero Sport will soon be made at their upcoming plant in Indonesia.
Sources have reported that the car maker has decided to stop importing the Pajero Sport, from Thailand, by April 2017. Mitsubishi plans to commence production of this SUV at their new plant in West Java, and also added that it should be fully operational by April next year. Imam Choeru Cahya, Head of Sales, said, “The existence of the new plant will mean that the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will no longer be imported from Thailand. The Pajero Sport will be the first product to roll out of the new Mitsubishi plant."
Reports also claim that the new Mitsubishi production plant in Indonesia will harbour the capacity to build up to 160,000 units per year. This unit may also see other vehicles like the L300 MPV roll out of the production line. Once the new Pajero Sport begins to be made in Indonesia, Mitsubishi will be able to price the car far more aggressively.
Mitsubishi is expected to bring the new Pajero Sport to the Indian market early next year.
