Opel earlier revealed that the Grandland X should debut in 2017 and will take on the likes of Nissan’s Qashqai. Currently, Opel’s crossover line-up for GM Europe consists of the Crossland X (compact SUV), followed by the Mokka X (mid-sized SUV), and the considerably bigger Grandland X.

Reports suggest that the Grandland X will be underpinned by the Peugeot 3008 platform due to the ongoing partnership between GM and PSA. This is confirmed by the sighting of the test mule around PSA’s northern Europe testing facility, and the obvious French number plates.

Just like Opel promised, these spy pictures confirm the tall seating position, good all-round visibility and abundance of boot space. Sources add that this crossover could be offered with front-wheel drive only, and will be introduced with a range of engines.

Opel is also known to be developing another larger SUV in the years to come due to the increase in demand for SUVs. Stay glued to CarTrade for more information.
