We reported earlier that Tata Motors will launch the much-awaited Bolt hatchback in January. Now, the company has officially announced that the hatchback will go on sale on January 22nd, 2015. The bookings for the car have already commenced at a token amount of Rs. 11,000.
Set to rival against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Tata Bolt hatchback will be the second product from the company’s HORIZONEXT umbrella. Based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform that also underpins the Zest compact sedan, the hatch will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol motor is the 1.2-litre REVOTRON engine that produces 89bhp of power and 140Nm of torque, the oil burner is the tried & tested 1.3-litre multi-jet motor that is good for 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.
Both engines will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox which transmits power to the front wheels of the hatch. The company, at a later stage, might also launch the AMT-equipped Bolt. The company has already started dispatching the hatchback to its dealerships and is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 4.20 lakh to 6 lakh.
The Tata Bolt hatchback will share its styling and interiors with its sedan sibling. Its top-end model will be equipped with features like projector headlamps, alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, ABS, EBD, dual airbags, etc.
