      Official: Maruti Alto K10 facelift launching on November 3

      India’s largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki will launch facelift version of its popular petite hatchback, Alto K10 on November 3, 2014 in New Delhi. Alto K10’s tweaked variant gets cosmetic and mechanical updates. The overall weight of the hatchback has been reduced by 15 kgs. Front now brags a two piece grille with a chrome strip present on the upper side. Head lights have been restyled and they appear bigger than before. Other than these, the hatchback also gets dark plastic lamp enclosures. At the rear most noticeable change has been made in the form of redesigned head lamps.

      Cabin is believed to be bigger than the outgoing model, courtesy shorter engine bay and slightly increased width and height of the 2015 Alto K10. Changes such as a revised instrument cluster, new upholstery, new steering wheel a revamped dashboard and a couple of other tweaks rejuvenate the cabin.

      Among the mechanical updates, use of new combustion techniques and remapping has led to increased ARAI certified fuel economy of 24.07 kmpl. Power will come from the same 1.0 litre, K10 petrol engine that powers the current model of Alto K10. The company will put on offer an automated manual transmission variant which will be optional, other than this a conventional five-speed manual gearbox will be employed to do the duty. High-end variants will also come equipped with driver airbag. On the price front, the new Alto K10 is likely to be priced a tad lower than the current model. In its segment, the hatchback will compete with the likes of Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Spark and Datsun GO.
