After the world's cheapest car, Tata Motors is ready to launch its Air car model that runs on compressed air. The new Air car is ready to roll out commercially which has been developed by ex-Formula One engineer Guy Negre. It used compressed ait to push its pistons and the city model would be able to clock 68 mph with a driving range of 125 miles. The car does not require any specific infrastructure for refuelling as well. You can easily get the car refuelled from any gas station that has custom air compressed unit. One refuelling would approximately cost Rs. 90 or $2.

The air car shall not be welded but glued. It may not pass through crash tests fairly but it holds all the promises to be the most eco-friendly car. Negre has also signed deals to bring its design to 12 more countries including South Africa, Israel and South Africa. Engineers are also working on a hybrid version so that the car may run on gasoline if the air fuel falls below the minimum level. Thus, the car shall be available as two models – single energy compressed air engines and dual energy compressed air plus fuel engines.

Tata Motors has not made any official announcement about bringing such an eco-friendly and fuel efficient car to Indian market. The car is expected to be prices around Rs. 3.5 lakh in India.
