After the world’s cheapest car, Tata Motors is now gearing up to launch “World Truck” by end of May 2009. The company is working full throttle for the global launch of its latest truck that will slowly phase out its heavy and medium range trucks. However, there is no official word from Tata Motors about such a launch.
“As a policy, Tata Motors does not talk about its future product launches. An announcement will be made at an appropriate time,” said a Tata Motors spokesperson. “The world truck will sport a more expensive price tag. Given the current slowdown in the commercial vehicle market, Tata Motors will continue producing the existing range till the market picks up,” reported sources closer to the development process.
Tata Motors is developing this new world truck on a completely new platform in association with associated Daewoo Motors. The new trucks from Tata will be pitted against models of Volvo, Nissan, Mercedes Benz and MAN. These trucks will sport 185-565 HP engines. The new trucks will be priced at 5-10 percent premium and will have added features like AC cabins.
