Norton to go against Elite Superbikes

Iconic British bike maker has been revived with a funding of £ 7.5 million and it is going to use a part of that money in developing an array of superbikes. The company has announced that it will not stick to building a single bike. At two least will be developed and both of them will go against the elite fleet of blazing two-wheelers.

The new bike is expected to get a V4 engine which will produce 200 bhp. This amount of power will straight away throw it in Ducati Panigale 1199, BMW S1000RR, Yamaha R1 and Kawasaki Ninja H2 arena. Expected to be priced around £ 30,000 it will be a limited edition bike as the Norton factory does not have the staff or equipments to mass produce it.

There will also be a superbike that will go on sale for a price tag of more than £ 50,000. This means, it will be competing against Ducati 1199 Superleggera. Now, this might be a problem for the rejuvenated bike maker. The Superleggera sports the same engine as a Panigale but what is special about the bike is the weight saving components used in it which make it weigh just 178 kg with tank full. It produces 186 bhp and 122 Nm of torque and because it is light weight, it has a power to weight ratio of more than 1 bhp per kg. The performance of this one is unbelievable as many experts have claimed that the bike can pull off wheelies at 240 kph which means that it is capable of brutal acceleration even at that speed.

Norton might have chosen to go against the wrong guys but the exotic bike manufacturer has been successful while doing so in the past and hopes to make the cut today too.
